“Winding the Clock” Mosaic Presented at BRC’s Senior Center

On Wednesday, June 30th, BRC was joined by staff and artists from Groundswell Community Mural Project and representatives of the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation in dedicating a large-scale mosaic at BRC’s Senior Center in the Sara D. Roosevelt Park in Manhattan. Lead artist Clare Herron along with fifteen young people in the Teen Empowerment Mural Apprenticeship (TEMA) program worked on the mosaic since the fall of 2009 and explained that their inspiration came from the history of NYC’s Chinatown and the residents of the Bowery. This is BRC’s second successful endeavor with Groundswell. The first was last summer’s two-story mural covering the entire exterior frontage of the Lexington Avenue Women’s Residence.
