Meet TeamBRC's Newest Charity Runners!

Meet the Members of TeamBRC Running the March 15th United Airlines NYC Half

These are our newest members of TeamBRC, running in the 2020 United Airlines NYC Half on Sunday, March 15th. They come from all over the metro area, to give a hand up to those reclaiming their lives from homelessness, mental illness, and addiction. Please help us say thank you and support them on their journey!

TeamBRC is part of our BRC Champions community who are dedicated to supporting BRC’s mission and the nearly 10,000 New Yorkers the organization serves through vital programs and services. Champions plan or participate in various volunteering, fund and awareness raising activities benefiting the organization.

Aki

Aki: "The time it will take to prepare for the United Airlines/BRC half marathon will be all worth it when I cross the finish line on Sunday, March 15th, because any of us could fall on hard times and need help to get back on our feet. The funds being raised by BRC will aid in offering VITAL medical, residential, and vocational services to homeless New Yorkers."

Andres

Andres: "I’m running in the half marathon on behalf of BRC to raise money for the organization, awareness of the issue and channel my energy to something positive after the recent loss of my older brother who suffered from the same issues BRC address on a daily basis."

Andrew

Andrew: "BRC's focus on hand ups instead of just hand outs is the exact mindset that makes it such an impactful and transformative organization. I'm honored to be running on Team BRC to continue to spread awareness about their message."

Angela

Angela: "My crazy friends Michal and Shoshana thought it would be so fun to run a marathon, and since I’m such a wonderful friend, I had to jump in with them. I am so proud to represent The Bowery Residents Committee that is fighting every day to end the cycle of homelessness in our city, and every mile I run is in honor of their effort."

Brianna

Brianna: "While I have only ever run for me, to soak in the scenery or to clear my head, I could not be more honored or motivated to be running in support of BRC and all of that they do and the people they serve. I hope to give what I can to ensure BRC can continue to make a lasting, positive impact to those in need.”

Carolyn

Carolyn: "Since I moved to New York over ten years ago, I have noticed an extreme rise in the number of people living on the streets. I have decided the best way to go help those less fortunate is to combine my love of running with a program such as BRC."

Fruma

Fruma: “I am inspired and honored to run for team BRC.  In their quest to end homelessness in our communities, they are giving second chances to those who truly don’t have one, and helping to create new futures for those in need”

Khephren

Khephren: "As a New Yorker I walk the streets everyday and I see the thousands do not have the basic needs or tools to live. I joined BRC Leadership Council for its simple and clear mission to give a hand up to the people who need it most in our city. To give back to the city that gives us so much. I am running to not only raise funds for our mission but also to use this platform to build awareness for a cause I believe in."

Lona

Lona: “I am running for the BRC to help support and promote the BRC’s important efforts to ensure that all New Yorkers have access to housing and critical healthcare and employment services as we strive all for a more compassionate community.”

Rachel

Rachel:"I am thrilled to join Team BRC in the New York City Half Marathon. I am running to raise money and awareness for this very worthy organization to fight the homelessness crisis in the city."

Sydney

Sydney:"I'm by no means an experienced runner, but when I attended a charity event for BRC last Fall and learned about the incredible work the organization does, I felt compelled to help in some way. I try to do at least one big thing that challenges me every year and I know this race will force me to be disciplined. I'm also eager to prove to myself that I can accomplish this race and all for a great cause."

Thank you to all our TeamBRC members, and all those supporting their run.

Rather than create wealth for private developers, could we use the same shelter contract to create housing for low-income people?
