During Muzzy's tenure, BRC has grown more than tenfold, despite historic turbulence: 9/11, the 2008 global financial crisis, Hurricane Sandy, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Through it all, Muzzy has ensured that every person who walks through the doors at BRC is treated with dignity and respect. 

​

BRC is one of New York City's largest, most experienced and most successful providers of housing and services for individuals experiencing homelessness. Founded in 1971 by a group of recovering alcoholics living in poverty in the Bowery’s infamous flophouses, these individuals had hope, and a firm belief that better days lay ahead. BRC now serves over 13,000 individuals each year, operating more than 30 programs throughout the greater metropolitan area.  Our holistic, individualized approach provides vulnerable people with a suite of resources, knowledge, and support to not only meet their immediate needs, but also provide a pathway to health and self-sufficiency.

And we're not stopping there. In the coming years, we will build more than 800 additional units of affordable housing and shelter - places of healing and transformation to further aid in alleviating homelessness in New York City.
