The following information is designed to help you better understand the information we gather from you generally, and when you visit the Site and use our services, how we use this information and the choices you have regarding our use of, and your ability to correct, the information.

Please read this policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your sole choice is to not use our Website. By accessing or using this Website, you agree to this privacy policy. This policy may change from time to time (see Changes to Our Privacy Policy).

Your continued use of the BRC website after we make changes is deemed to be acceptance of those changes, so please check the policy periodically for updates.

The Site is not intended for children under 13 years of age. No one under age 13 may provide any information, personal or otherwise, to or on the Site.  If you are under 13, do not use or provide any information on the Site or on or through any of its features or provide any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, or any screen name or username you may use. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at

Bowery Residents’ Committee, 131 West 25th Street, New York, NY 10001 or at info@brc.org.

Personal Information that Bowery Residents’ Committee May Collect Online and Offline

The personal information that BRC collects may include, but is not limited to, your name, mailing and email address, and phone numbers. We may collect certain information when you register to attend an event or make an online donation, but BRC does not collect or store your payment card information through the Site or in hard copy. If you want to know how Blackbaud is handling your personal information, you should review its privacy policy.

In order to provide certain services and goods on the Site, or to support events, we contract with other companies and individuals. These additional services and goods may include links to other websites from the Site. This privacy policy only applies to the Site and BRC events and information, and is not applicable to any third-party sites. Any time you leave the Site, or provide your personal information to other third parties at our events, we have no control over this information, nor do we control what those third parties might do with information collected about you. Additionally, third party websites have their own privacy notices that apply once you enter their sites. It is important that you review any third party privacy notices carefully if you want to know how your personal information is handled.

How We Keep Your Information Secure

BRC uses physical, administrative and technological security measures to help prevent unauthorized access to and improper use of the information we collect from you. The Site is encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocols, and we maintain a valid SSL certificate. Although we take steps to secure your information, we cannot guarantee the security of any personal information that you provide on the Site or to us directly.

How Your Information May Be Shared

We will not sell, share or rent donor information collected online or offline at volunteer or other events. However, BRC, in its sole discretion, as it believes necessary or appropriate, may release personal information under the following circumstances:

  • If required by law (for example, a subpoena) or regulation or requested by a government agency;

  • If our records indicate a company may be engaged in fraudulent activity or other deceptive practices that a governmental agency should be made aware of;

  • To appropriate persons, where your communication suggests possible harm to others.

Computer Tracking and Cookies Online

The Site logs generate certain kinds of non-identifying site usage data, such as the number of hits and visits to our sites. This information is used for internal purposes by technical support staff to provide better services to the public and may also be provided to others, but the statistics contain no personal information.

BRC also uses non-identifying cookies to provide easier site navigation and access to forms. A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. You can still use the Site if your browser is set to reject cookies.
