Freddy
The onset of the global pandemic in March 2020 brought unprecedented challenges for Freddy C. who found himself homeless following a disagreement with his brother. With NYC in a state of emergency and nowhere to turn, Freddy was forced to sleep on the A train, isolated and scared. It was at the 207th Street Subway Station that Freddy met BRC’s Outreach Team. The team reassured Freddy and helped to facilitate his placement at The Palace, BRC’s Manhattan-based shelter.
A focused and hard-working man, Freddy diligently worked with his BRC Case Manager to secure employment as an Associate at a nationally recognized home improvement store. His dedication and focus were quickly recognized as he received multiple awards, including “Associate of Month” and “Engaging Associate” within his first year of employment.
With his perseverance and assistance from BRC, Freddy moved into a 2-bedroom affordable housing unit with his wife and his son. Still diligently focused on the future, Freddy will begin trade school in January 2024 to become a certified plumber and electrician.
