LEND A HAND & BE A FRIENDLY NEIGHBOR TO ASYLUM SEEKERS!
BILINGUAL SPANISH-SPEAKING VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED!
As you have likely seen in the news, several cities across the country have found themselves spontaneously hosting relocated asylum seekers. BRC has proudly stepped up to do our part to ensure these people receive the shelter and care they require. In order to offer the best service possible, we look to our volunteers to help us in this important task.
More than 250 men and women have recently been placed in three of our facilities, many of whom are rather bewildered and shocked to find themselves as new residents of New York City. We are actively seeking any/all bilingual Spanish-speaking volunteers that can provide translation services, while also providing a kind smile, offer casual conversation, play a few games, or simply chat and offer a warm hand of kindness. Through this interaction, we hope you would help let these folks know we are there to assist as best we can.
Let's show everyone New Yorkers help New Yorkers!
Our goal is to find as many volunteers that can offer weekly or biweekly support at any or all of the following locations between the times noted. Please note, due to the sensitive nature of this particular activity, we will require a 15-20 minutes Zoom meeting for all participants.
