From the Desk of the CEO: Growth

As I step into my new role as President and CEO of BRC, I’ve been thinking a lot about growth.

Not growth for growth’s sake, but about what it means to create more opportunity—for the New Yorkers we serve, for our staff, and for BRC as an organization.

I see growth in two important ways.

First, expanding access and opportunity. There are too many people who need support and too many barriers standing between people and the services, housing, and opportunities that can help them move forward. I want BRC to keep finding creative ways to reach more people and make our services more accessible.

Second, deepening the quality of our continuum of care. We have an incredible continuum—from street outreach and shelters to supportive and affordable housing—and an incredible opportunity to keep improving how we care for the people who come through our doors. That means thinking not only about how many people we serve, but about the depth, quality, and humanity of the services we provide.

We are operating in a moment of enormous change. Federal, state, and city funding environments are shifting, creating real challenges for organizations like BRC. But change also gives us an opportunity to ask important questions: How can we do our work differently? Where can we be more creative? How can we use what we know to improve the quality of care and expand access to the people who need us? And how can we make BRC an even better place for our staff to learn, grow, and do meaningful work?

After nearly 20 years at BRC, I know how much talent, creativity, and heart exists across this organization. I’ve seen our staff step up in difficult moments, find solutions when there seemingly weren't any, and—most importantly—show up for our clients with dignity and humanity every single day.

Now I have the opportunity to think even bigger about what we can do together.

I’m looking forward to sharing more of that journey with you—and to bringing you stories along the way about the people, ideas, and work that make me proud to be part of BRC.

Together we will build on what makes BRC so special and thinking boldly about what comes next.
