Give someone a fish, you feed them for a day; teach them to fish, you feed them for a lifetime. Or as we like to say at BRC, give someone a hand up, not just a handout.
Every year, BRC’s Horizons Employment Program gives hundreds of homeless men and women a hand up to self-sufficiency. BRC enables them to identify their strengths, develop their skills and their confidence, and motivates them to find and maintain employment. Nearly 250 men and women find employment each year. Six months later, well over 60% are still employed. And after a year, their average wages have an increased more than 5%.
