On August 4, 2025, Bowery Residents’ Committee (BRC), along with our partners, Camber Property Group and the NYC Department of Social Services celebrated the opening of Robert C. Wood Apartments, a $100-million, eight-story building that encompasses 147 permanently affordable apartments. The full development also includes the Wanda Patterson Women’s Residence, a 100-bed shelter reserved for single women.
The program was dedicated to the memory and legacy of Dr. Robert C. Wood and his remarkable contributions to public service. Dr. Wood co-authored the Fair Housing Act of 1968 and served as the Secretary and Undersecretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development under President Lyndon B. Johnson. Later in his career, Dr. Wood was the Director of the Harvard-MIT Joint Center for Urban Studies, the President of the University of Massachusetts, and Professor of Government at Wesleyan University.
The dedication ceremony included remarks from various New York City government officials, project stakeholders, one of the program’s tenants, and the Hon. Maggie Hassan, Senator from New Hampshire and Dr. Robert C. Wood’s daughter.

The dedication of the Robert C. Wood apartments in Far Rockaway is a significant project that exemplifies the influence of housing and community development. Neighbourhoods are genuinely strengthened by initiatives such as these, much as an NFL Jacket Collection can unite supporters in a spirit of pride. I appreciate you sharing this update.
Nice
The Robert C. Wood Apartments opening is a remarkable step in affordable housing—a cause worth celebrating! After the event, I might unwind by exploring some fun games on pips gamer
slope rider keeps players hooked by constantly pushing them just outside their comfort zone. The increasing speed and unpredictable slopes create a sense of tension that makes every second feel intense and rewarding.
